European investment bank Berenberg has raised its price target on Swedish Orphan Biovitrum (Sobi) to 600 kronor, following a third-quarter earnings beat and another upgrade to the company's full-year 2026 revenue growth outlook. The move signals confidence in the biotech firm's trajectory, even as one of its key products delivered softer-than-expected royalty income.

Strong Q3 results

In a research note published Tuesday, Berenberg highlighted that Sobi reported third-quarter revenue of 9.12 billion kronor, up 16% at constant exchange rates. Adjusted EBITA—earnings before interest, taxes, and amortization—came in at 4.1 billion kronor, roughly 13% above what analysts had been expecting. That beat underscores the company's operational strength and cost discipline.

The strong quarter prompted Sobi's management to raise its full-year 2026 revenue growth guidance to the high-teens to low-20s range at constant exchange rates. That is a notable upgrade from previous guidance and reflects growing confidence in the company's product portfolio and market demand.

Beyfortus royalties light

One area of softness was Beyfortus, a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) treatment that Sobi co-markets with Sanofi. Royalties from Beyfortus came in lighter than expected during the quarter. While the product remains an important growth driver, the shortfall in royalty income is something investors will likely keep an eye on in coming quarters.

Berenberg's note suggests that despite this hiccup, the overall momentum in Sobi's core business is strong enough to justify a higher valuation. The new price target of 600 kronor represents a meaningful upside from where the stock traded before the announcement.

What this means for investors

For everyday investors, the key takeaway is that Sobi is delivering on its growth promises, and the market is rewarding that with a higher price target from a major bank. The raised 2026 guidance is a positive signal, as it suggests management sees sustained demand for its treatments, particularly in rare diseases and immunology.

However, the light Beyfortus royalties serve as a reminder that even strong companies have pockets of weakness. Investors should watch how Sobi addresses this in the coming quarters, especially as RSV seasonality can cause fluctuations in royalty income.

Berenberg's action is part of a broader trend of analysts updating price targets after earnings. For example, Ferrari recently raised its 2026 profit target on the back of strong customization demand, while Sandoz trimmed its sales outlook but lifted its margin target amid biosimilar pricing pressures. These moves highlight how companies are navigating their specific market conditions.

In the broader biotech sector, Upwork's recent earnings beat shows that even companies with revenue dips can see share price gains if they exceed profit expectations. Similarly, Sobi's profit beat is a key driver of the positive sentiment.

Looking ahead

Investors will now be watching for Sobi's next earnings report to see if the company can sustain its growth trajectory and whether Beyfortus royalties improve. The raised guidance for 2026 suggests management is confident, but execution will be key.

For those considering Sobi as part of a diversified portfolio, it's important to remember that biotech stocks can be volatile. Price target changes from banks like Berenberg are useful signals, but they are not guarantees of future performance. Always consider your own financial situation and risk tolerance before making investment decisions.

Berenberg's move is a positive endorsement of Sobi's strategy, but as with any investment, it's wise to do your own research and understand the risks involved.
